2014 — The Beginning

It started at Nimisha’s kitchen table

One Stop Wedding Supplies began in 2014, when Nimisha Patel started assembling pooja trays for neighbours in Bardoli who were tired of the thin, mass-produced sets sold at the local market — flimsy coconuts, machine-stitched varmala that fell apart by the second pheri.

She sourced better brass, better thread, better marigold, and assembled each tray herself at home. Word moved through Bardoli’s wedding halls faster than any advertisement could.

2017 — The Hard Years

Wholesalers wouldn’t sell her single trays

Growing past neighbours meant sourcing at scale, and most wholesalers in Surat only sold brassware and coconuts in bulk lots meant for shops, not a home-run business filling one order at a time. Nimisha and her son Kunal spent two years building relationships with smaller family suppliers who would sell in the quantities she actually needed.

The turning point came when a Surat wedding photographer, Devang Shah, posted a close-up of one of her trays online and tagged her. Orders started arriving from outside Bardoli for the first time.

Today

A team of nine, still assembling by hand

We now ship pan-India, but the workshop is still two rooms in Bardoli, and every tray, coconut and varmala is still assembled by hand by people Nimisha trained herself. Kunal now runs day-to-day operations; Nimisha still inspects the trays before they’re packed.

Nothing about the process has been automated to grow faster — we’ve just gotten better at doing it the same way, more consistently.

Rooted in Bardoli

A small Gujarat town with a long memory for craft

Bardoli sits in a part of South Gujarat where handwork around weddings — embroidery, brasswork, garland-stringing — has passed between families for generations, long before it became anyone’s business.

Most of our artisans grew up watching a mother or aunt make these same items for family weddings, unpaid, because that’s what you did. We didn’t invent this craft; we just built a way for it to reach weddings outside Bardoli too.

“The pooja tray looked exactly like the pictures, only better in person. It sat at the centre of our mandap all evening.”

Everything above is still handled by the same nine people, one order at a time.
